Good Times At The Utah Saloon
The Utah Saloon is located on the ground floor of our Inn. The Saloon, along with the Utah Inn opened its doors in 1908. Big names such as Beat Gangsters, Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio, and Bing Crosby often visited the Utah Hotel, making their mark in San Francisco's history. In 1950, a gentlemen named Al Opatz presided over the Utah Hotel, and eventually bought the bar located downstairs, in 1966 and renamed it Al’s Transbay Tavern. Al’s Transbay gets a mention in Coppola’s film, “The Conversation.”
